Our Boat Elysia

Sailing Berry Islands

Our Boat Elysia is the O’Day 34 is a mid-sized performance cruiser, designed by C. Raymond Hunt and J. Deknatel.

Elysia combines spacious accommodations (feels incredibly roomy for her size!), good sailing stability due to her deep draft keel, large rudder, and easy handling. This makes her attractive not only for experienced sailors, but also for beginners. She is a very forgiving and sturdy boat!

In the cockpit, you will find a complete binnacle station with Nav Pod, a big storage lazarette and several small ones, cup holders and a white starboard cockpit table. Bimini-top and a dodger will protect you from rain, wind and sun. My favorite place in the cockpit – two custom-built stern perch seats.

As you enter through the companionway, you will find a U-shaped galley, navigation table with chart storage, large V-berth, hanging closet with 2 rods, drop-leaf table which seats 6. The table is very solid and has two stainless steel grab rails. There is also a folding custom-made coffee table.

L-shaped salon settee converts into an additional queen-size bed, deep aft quarter-berth (it is also perfect for large storage space). Throughout the boat there are a lot of railings and places to hold for safety in rough seas.

What do we especially love about this boat?

  • No doubt, stern perches! My favorite place to sit!
  • Oversized anchor and anchor windlass (we could sleep well at night!)
  • Stability in high seas. The boat cuts through waves very well due to the deep keel
  • Mack Pack: to put the sail down takes about 5 minutes (comparing to over 40 minutes that tool us to put the old regular sail cover)
